The monsters have all been uploaded (excepting [info]shadesong's, because I'm waiting for a reply re: text)! They're linked in the replies to the request entry.

If you'd like to get the original of your monster shipped to you, I'll be figuring out shipping details and should have a post up with information about that shortly after Christmas, Lord willin'. So watch this journal!

Also, [info]kyrahlynn mentioned that she wanted to see all the monsters together, but that makes for a HUGE image-ful post. I thought I'd ask you lot, though--would you like me to post all the monsters together in one ginormous post? Or if you can think of a better way to share them all at once, feel free to suggest it.

Thanks so much to everyone who participated in this event--it was a blast! I had ludicrous amounts of fun designing monsters for y'all.

Oh, hey, gang, I just now recalled a project I was intending to attempt over break, for which I need your assistance! I have decided to do textdumps on some of my characters, critters, etc. In part because I know I frequently refer to these things without explanation in my sketchposts, in part because it helps me organize my thoughts. However, since like Walt Whitman I contain multitudes, the real problem is deciding where to start.

SO!

Comment on this post, suggesting one or all of the following:

1. A character you'd like to know more about.
2. A type of creature you'd like to know more about.
3. A specific aspect of a setting you'd like to know more about.

Going forward I will, periodically, be going through the comments on this entry and writing up textdumps on the topics you've suggested, which will then be posted to this journal under flock (if you'd like to access the friends-only content--lengthier writing and old art, mostly--simply follow the instructions in this post).

THE MONSTER PARTY IS OFFICIALLY OVER

REQUESTS ARE CLOSED

Thanks to everyone who participated! I got roughly 70 requests, if I'm counting right, which is going to keep me seriously busy for quite a while. I'll start drawing tomorrow.

Ladies and gentleplums, in order better to celebrate the end of the fall semester, I have decided to host a FREE MONSTER PARTY on my campus (I did this last semester, and it was pretty fun). However, not wanting to limit the joy of free monsters to the matriculating population of a small liberal arts college, I have decided to accompany this party with an online Free Monster Party on this journal.

How will this work? Remarkably like my past request events, actually! The morning of December 16th (the date of my last final), I will put up a request post on this journal, which will remain open until midnight that night, EST. By commenting on this post, you can request an adorable monster (drawn and colored in marker on a 3x11" sheet of Bristol) with a dialogue bubble exclaiming any words you would like (as long as I can fit them on the paper, you understand). I may also make originals available, if I can figure out the technicalities. Further instructions on requesting and shipping info will come with the request post itself.

In short, keep your eyes peeled on December 16th for your opportunity to acquire FREE MONSTERY ARTS!

It took me just over a month, but I got all the requests drawn! I decided to post them all together in one big, image-heavy post.

But first Important Shipping Info: I have mailing addresses for [info]theillusionist, [info]dinictis, [info]orangejulies, [info]kyrahlynn, and [info]traxer. If you would like me to mail you the original of your request drawing, email me at bootheeling (a) gmail (dot) com ASAP with a shipping address. I hope to get these mailed in fairly short order. Note: there will be NO shipping costs for this.*

Now, here are all the requests!

That's Forty-Five Little Drawrings )

I'd like to say I'm going to get sketches scanned soon, but since NaNoWriMo just started and I am most definitely participating (may post a few teasers throughout the month), I can't make any promises.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this event! I had a TON of fun drawing y'all's amazing prompts, and it was a real joy to be able to bring some cheer to folks. Hopefully I'll be doing another request event before the year is out, so keep your eyes peeled!

*Tip: if you want the original, act now, because during any hypothetical future clearing-out events wherein I offer to ship people originals, I would most definitely be charging for shipping, even on these sketches. What I'm saying is, you have a limited window of time for this free-shipping deal.

I got 45 requests, which is a big fat number and just what I wanted. I'm so happy people responded; I got some awesome prompts! I've already drawn some of them (haven't scanned yet) and I'll be postin' 'em as I can! This will take a bit, of course, as I'll be doing these as breaks from studying.

Hey, guys, I have a question which may or may not lead to anything... and if it does, it won't be for some months, but! It's worth asking.

Were I to write a kind of "Summary of Character X," giving you all the important information that ends up scattered without method throughout sketchposts and dA/flickr descs... what kind of information would you want to know?

And were I to write a "Summary of Setting X" (or some subset of a setting), what kind of information would you want in that sort of post? I have the feeling that this would be even more helpful, actually, since I tend to make offhand references to world-rules I've maybe mentioned once, a year ago, in the middle of a huge paragraph about something unrelated.

So! Your feedback appreciated!

REQUESTS ARE CLOSED! THANKS SO MUCH, EVERYONE!

I got sixteen requests done today, and it was ridiculously fun. I'll work on the remaining requests over the next few days. I got about thirty requests all told, and I'm pretty happy with that number, for my first attempt at an open request day--it'll give me something fun to do for a few days (and then I can spend the remainder of my summer working on writing). Thanks so much to everyone who requested, and thanks a million to the awesome people who linked me!

this is kinda irrelevant now )

Okay, nicking a meme from [info]ozymandiusjones. Ask anything about any idea [..] and I shall attempt to answer it. A complete list of characters. Dialect. history. what form of currency a setting uses. ALMOST ANYTHING!

Like [info]deadvole, I do not have a comprehensive list of my projects (I have such a list on my hard drive, but am still irrationally unwilling to share it). But you can get a sense for the settings by reading the relevant sections of my profile.

I'll take character-related questions and worldbuilding questions, but prefer worldbuilding. Be prepared for tl;dr. I may hedge a question if the answer is too spoilery.

For now, how about those fishpeople I promised? )

Tomorrow there may be a sketch-update, I hope. Right now, howev', I am going to bed. Or trying, anyway, because I am so full of caffeine it just isn't funny. I forgot just how spazzy Excedrin makes me.

Sometimes, when I am especially bored, I will draw what I call "fish-people." They are not very fishlike. Maybe a bit froglike. The point being that occasionally I will draw some of my characters as these strange creatures, like so: Saul, Theo, Fwirl. The results are always rather fabulously bizarre--I am struck by how easy and fun it is, and am always tempted to do more.

So! For the first time ever, I am offering you the once-in-a-lifetime chance to get a little doodle of your character or characters as fish-people! Just comment on this entry with up to four of your characters (please link to a visual ref, and fill in any missing details like colors with a desc), no later than Tuesday, March 18 and I will reinvent them as fish-people for your wacky entertainment. As you can see species is no obstacle--I can turn almost anyone and anything into a fish-person. Admittedly the results are extremely strange and not terribly adorable, but I rely on you to decide whether this will amuse you or not.

Hurry, hurry, they're goin' fast! Getcher fresh-caught fish-people!

Still need to reply to comments, still lacking the wherewithal. BUT! I have been slacking off my posting schedule and that is bad. So, although I shouldn't be stirring up more feedback, I will run everyone's favourite meme*, the one I got a coon's age ago from [info]dimespin who modified it from some other source.

Ask any of my characters a question--any question you like--and they will give you an answer. In fact, I will doodle them giving you an answer. You can ask about absolutely anything you'd like to know, and any character you like. All will answer--although I warn you, they may prevaricate or evade.

So! Ask away! I will try to get back to your questions with all speed.

*Well, everyone's favourite after the one where I draw free sketches for people. I'm not quite up to that one right now. Someday, though, because I need to keep my generosity limber.
