Hey there! Seems you've reached Can't Buy Me Love--this is my creative central, where I share my art and writing with others. I'm Leslie.

I post a lot of stuff on this journal, with different levels of privacy and... publicity, I guess? You get the idea.

I post sketches, the most recent of which are public. I also have a few samples of my writing up for public viewing. For a bit more info on the characters and settings involved, check out my userinfo.

I also post links to my finished pieces, which go up on my flickr and my deviantART.

Lastly, I post studies for works-in-progress, along with most of my writing and maybe the odd worldbuilding ramble. THOSE things (and my older sketch-posts) are friends-only, so friend this journal and comment on this entry asking to be added and telling me where you heard about me, to get at the super-secret stuff. Let me know if you'd prefer to see art only or writing only; if you don't say, I'll assume you want only the art.

I'm usually pretty willing to add folks, so don't be shy!

Another sketchpost! Egads! Let there be rejoicing, parades, trains of camels bearing strange incense, elephants draped in exotic jewelry!

Let me get back, let me get back )

You must console yourself until next time with this offering, and the prospect of a forthcoming post full of surreal creatures, the dreams, and *gasp* an actual environment.

Here, have the entirety of Book II, Chapter 6.

Warning: This one does, in fact, have a swear in it, because I know for dead-certain that this swear will NOT be cut in revision and therefore in all good artistic conscience I can't take it out.

Since there's some lack of overlap between this journal and th'old personal one, and this is something that could concern watchers here, I will post a link to a poll about me, comics, you, reading comics, making comics...

Just click the link already: the link

(apologies to those who watch both journals, redundant post is most exceedingly redundant)

Would you believe it? I managed to get a whole boatload of stuff from the new sketchbook scanned before school started, so we're set for at least a little while longer (then it'll be back to art-filtered doodle posts, so enjoy the sketchbookery while it lasts!).

If she turns up while I'm gone please let me know )

And that would appear to be all for today! Next time: silliness, fwoosh, and Imaginary Dead John Lennon!

1. Excellent news! [info]kyrahlynn, [info]catamount3, [info]traxer, [info]errant_evermore, [info]pooryorick, and [info]ysabetwordsmith, your packages have been posted! I think that's everyone from whom I've received shipping to date.

2. Have another post of 14 monsters from the Free Monster Party, because I just finished working through some Geometry proofs (more awesome than it sounds, actually, to my intense surprise) and I think that is a great reason to post monsters.

Again, for those who don't mind flipping through a flickr gallery, I've also got all of them on flickr in a set: here

1. I, uh, forgot drabble post yesterday. SORRY.

2. I am HOPING to get SOME (not sure which) of the packages for folks shipped tomorrow. Fingers crossed; I have a lot going on and plenty of homework. But I'm gonna make an effort.

3. And verily, it were an art post, and it were most outrageously full of art! I think this update is almost entirely about things from my Menagerie setting. Not surprising; it absorbs most of my attention.

I want to travel with you far and wide )

It's... an adorable Linus? Egads!

And that pretty much wraps up the sketchbook I finished around the middle of December. Next time, we enter the NEW sketchbook (which I've already made a big dent in).

Welcome back to the funny farm!

1. Those who've sent shipping money for monsters or the OWO art event, I do not know precisely when I will get your stuff packed up and make a P.O. run, but it is still on my radar. This has been a really difficult transition into semester, what with some miscommunications and whatnot. I've been running nonstop, don't know when exactly I'll have downtime.

2. However, I am very proud of myself because I have got a sketchpost for y'all! I mean, yes, all this involves is some copypasting and proofreading, but still. SKETCHPOST IS HAPPENING.

Brace yourself for arts galore.

And the ancient empty street's too dead for dreaming )

Well, folks, that time has arrived. I have one again started classes at PHC, and now I am going to be busy like nobody's business. I HAVE stuff prepared already to update this journal--we have at least six weeks' of sketchposts prewritten, plus leftover class doodle posts from the summer. And drabbles are always sitting around, so. The real question is whether I'll have time and brainspace even for that. We'll see!

Expect me not to reply to comments in a timely fashion. I DO, however, hope to keep dealing with shipping, though there may be some delays now that I have to fit P.O. runs around my schedule.

ALL THAT SAID, here is a novel excerpt:

1. Those who've commented on the Out with the Old Art Shipping Event, I will have your shipping estimates tomorrow, or Tuesday at the latest.

2. I've probably procrastinated on this rather too long, but I've been juggling a whole host of little back-to-school chores, and it's all too easy for things to slip between the cracks.

Be that as it may, for those who wanted to see all the monsters from the Free Monster Party, but didn't want a) to click through all the comment threads on the original entry, or b) to have to load one post full of ginormous images, I'm going to post the monsters in five posts of fourteen monsters each, every so often (I have to admit I don't know how often; I'm starting a rather busy semester this week).

For those who don't mind flipping through a flickr gallery, I've also got all of them on flickr in a set: here

So, good people of the Internet! I have seen this "formspring" thing popping up amongst the up-and-coming every so often, but when I went to look at it all I could think was "this is the perfect way to feed me already-immense ego, isn't it?"

However, being a completist, I got an account just in case I thought of a non-ego-inflating use for it.

And, well, I have! You see, periodically people express confusion over some aspect of my multitude of characters, or my diversity of settings and projects, or my ever-increasing bestiary, or some such thing. I get mixed results, however, soliciting their questions in that meme that goes round periodically. I suspect this is because when you grab people and say "think of a question!" their minds immediately go blank.

THEREFORE. I am opening up my little formspring account for the purpose of resolving these confusions. Maybe you didn't like to say that I was totally unclear about something in one of my sketchpost descriptions, and you still don't get how that bit works. Maybe you thought of something, meant to ask me, and then just plain forgot it when I did the meme. Maybe you came to the party on my creative journal a bit late, and you don't have time to catch up on the things I constantly reference, but you'd also really like to know exactly how that character I just mentioned offhand fits into the grand scheme of things (or even which setting/project he's from).

Well, now the formspring will always be there for you. You don't have to ask me anything, this isn't a community-building exercise like a meme. It's just there, with no time limits, whenever you happen to be puzzled. I will try to answer your questions to the best of my ability (though I may give some evasive answers when there's plot matter I'm trying not to spoil).

So ask anything you like about my imaginary worlds and people! Ask it whenever you feel the urge! Don't hesitate, but also don't feel obligated. It's just a resource that's out there, for your convenience.

HERE IT IS: A Kind of FAQ

(note: I know most formsprings are for personal questions, too, but I'd prefer you not ask those. Not that I mind talking about myself--just the opposite, in fact, I'm entirely too fond of it and don't need to be encouraged in that self-focus so endemic to the human race in general and Leslie in particular)
