Yeah, I'm gonna have to move on...

Hey there! Seems you've reached Can't Buy Me Love--this is my creative central, where I share my art and writing with others. I'm Leslie, although you may also know me as Fwirl.

I post a lot of stuff on this journal, with different levels of privacy and... publicity, I guess? You get the idea.

I post sketches, the most recent of which are public. I also have a few samples of my writing up for public viewing. For a bit more info on the characters and settings involved, check out my userinfo.

I also post links to my finished pieces, which go up on my flickr and my deviantART.

Lastly, I post studies for works-in-progress, along with most of my writing and maybe the odd worldbuilding ramble. THOSE things (and my older sketch-posts) are friends-only, so friend this journal and comment on this entry to get at the super-secret Fwirl stuff. Let me know if you'd prefer to see art only or writing only; if you don't say, I'll assume you want the art and the writing.

I'll friend pretty much anyone who comments, so don't feel shy.

So I got through today's orientation stuff sooner than expected
As I said, drabbles don't take more than a few minutes, and I currently have that to spare (in fact I am sorta crashing), so!

The movement you need is on your shoulder
So, guys! Kinda updating out of turn here, aren't I? Nothing creative, though, just a short announcement. As my dire hints may have already led you to suspect, I stand at the eve of orientation at Patrick Henry College, and classes start next Monday. I will be HUGELY busy, and moreso if I get the part-time job I applied for. This probably means that art updates will trickle to a minimum. I've got a few prewritten, along with those school-doodle posts, so for the first few weeks I'll still be updating, but I make no promises after that. Taking the roughly three hours to scan, transfer, format, and write up a post is not something I can count on having time and energy for.

I should be able to continue with drabble postings (and I may start tossing other things into the mix on Tuesdays, I've written some haiku and other things I think might be fun to share). Those don't take more than a few minutes to put together.

Also, I'll probably become pretty bad about replying to comments. Sorry!

Hang in there, gang. I certainly won't stop creating--part of the reason I'm cutting back online is so that I can use what free time I'll have for creativity--but you know how it goes. Life is changing; I'm excited and nervous, but also a little sad. Who knows what the future will bring.

In any case, stay cool (as I know you will) and thanks so much for all your time, appreciation, and feedback on my posts here so far. It means a lot to me, and hopefully even though I have less time I'll be able to check in every so often with some stuff to share.

Toodles!

You ain't nothin' but a hound dog!
Well, I wasn't going to do a sketch-update, but since next week is Orientation and I am not sure how things are going to be going forward timewise, it's probably just as well to get one in. In case. So hurray, sketch-update!

Yeah, this is still stuff from the previous sketchbook. At this rate I may never get caught up. Har.

They said you was high-class, well that was just a lie )

Stone the crows, if it isn't a sketch-update at last!

It's another very very very Menagerie update. This was a very very very Menagerie sketchbook, for whatever set of reasons.

I will attempt no concealment: this is one of my favourites
Drabble time! I toy with doing sketch-update Saturday, but working like a fiend on prizes as I am I suspect I will not trouble to scan anything. This probably means I'll toss up another of those school-doodle posts for the folks on the art filter. MORE STUPIDITY YAY.

Anyway, enough of this chat.

Did you notice that he threw you in the garbage?
I can hardly credit it myself, but it would seem I have gotten the gumption together to scan and write a sketchupdate! Amazing! I'm still working my way through the stuff I drew on hiatus. Uh. Yeah. I'm nearly finished with the sketchbook, should work on scanning more of it.

What heist were you watching?! )

I felt like I was writing autobiography here, even though this resembles nothing in my life
The drabbles are back! I actually went through all your prompts, but I'd like to keep posting them a bit longer. My notions about publication, etc. are rather up-in-the-air now, since I was forced by circumstance to stop at 85, and have no idea when I'll pick them back up again (although I definitely intend to). So for now I'll just post them--probably not all of them, though--and see where it goes, eh?

You never wear a stich of lace
You will not be surprised to hear that during my 'Net hiatus I built up a fearful, fearful backlog. This update represents only a portion of what I've drawn--just what I could get together the gumption to scan. It has become a bit difficult to actually put in the effort of scanning, transferring, formatting, uploading, coding into update. I got kinda spoiled with just drawing and drawing and not having to scan.

Anyroad, here's what I DID scan )

Th-th-that's all, folks!
